Who has released one? I've caught four and two this season. NY DEC says we don't have any so they won't open a season in our area.

Oh boy! Better you than me.

I've been seeing a bunch of them near me, but haven't caught one yet. I'm just south of you so I do have a week season on them.

I'm not a fan of Fisher because they put such a hurting on the turkey population.

Wisconsin people I'm sure will chime in, for years and years a guy would have to
Release many. And many were unreleasable with 160 necklaces. Sucks to have a over
Abundance of something you can't keep

When I lived in MN I did a couple times. They would end up in my dirt hole sets. I just cut a fork stick, pinned them down, and took the trap off. They didn't seem no worse off. I was using 1.75 coils. I even remember giving the one some fresh meat before I released him and he gobbled it up. I figure he lost some hunting time while in the trap so compensated him for his time. Sure was a lot of growling!

Worse yet is the otter. They are nice until you touch them with something, then all he77 breaks loose. Get the snare pole on them with out missing and hold on tight. Hope you have a back foot catch, much easier to release. I have released a lot of bobcats (easy). Fisher, i have released a few (still easy with the bucket/pail) but otter are just nasty.......jk

I dispatched one with the catch pole during PA's season this year. They aren't very pleasant in the trap haha.

Yup, never a dull moment with them. I cannot think of a dry land set a fisher won't mess with if found.

Agreed as above tho, otter are nuts.

They are not all that difficult to release if you have a catch pole. For some reason they seem to have a reputation that they really do not deserve in many ways.
They often seem to wonder into a canine set when the fisher is out of season or into a cat set when the season on them has ended.

NYyotekiller, PGC claims they opened up 90 some fisher an couldn't find any turkey parts in them? But our turkey population is dwindling also in my area.

I had to release one a couple years before we were allowed to keep one here in PA. He go out of the catch pole and almost got my leg on the first try, but the second went pretty easy.
