Coon and possum will destroy a whole nest when they find it.

I think the fisher are harder on squirrels and rabbits than they are turkey.

I just put a bucket over them. Not that hard so far. They are wiry and fast though.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Meanest thing I ever released was a barn cat, that sob meant business. Man did he tear up everything in chain reach, high and low.

We have the same situation in MN. We have a 5 day season.
I drowned one in a water set during regular trapping season that I turned in to the local CO. He told me he's seeing more and more of them every year being hit on the highways.

I released an otter once. They're no picnic either.

I almost forgot. Toughest thing I tried to get out of a 330 was a very tight-fitting snapping turtle. Most things you take out of a 330 are dead and not trying to bite you. Plus, a catch pole doesn't work on a snapper.

Yep, released a very nice male 1 week after our fisher season was closed. He worked a coyote set.

I’m not buying that either. Ever since I’ve been seeing the few Fishers around our turkey population has roughly been cut in half, maybe more. Found a ton of turkey carcasses up in trees that winter, and feathers scattered on fresh snow. Can’t imagine anything else would be doing that.

I don"t believe that fishers are a threat to turkeys.I open every one that I catch and have never found evidence of a turkey.

It's all fun and games till one slips out of a catch pole........ then it's every man for himself.... been there, done that.

I have to agree that an otter is the toughest for me to wrangle in order to release it. I have never caught a fisher though. Looks like a long legged otter to me. I would not look forward to that job either.
I do have a technique which I have used many times for otter if anyone wants to PM me. I never seem to have a catch pole on me in the middle of the beaver swamps, but my method works very well and the otter has always swam away good as new.

I don’t think it’s that hard if you use a catch pole

Or a piece of plywood with a notch hole cut in it, to isolate the critter a little.

That's what I used year when I got one about a month after the season ended. I was fortunate as he took off like a rocket with little attention of getting more acquainted with me.

I live in the country. A couple years ago, I had fisher tracks in my yard. After a few months, the squirrels and rabbits started disappearing. So, did the fisher.
