Here are a couple of ideas that I tried this season. 1st one is to add a 8" x 3 1/2"-4" 3/8" board on the bottom of my wire stretcher so I am able to pin the tail instead of using the metal clips. I used basswood for my boards and had it planed down to 3/8" for easier pinning. 2nd one was to make a small animal pelt hanger on the same order as the bigger ones. What I used for the wire or rod was a large floral or wreath holder with a 3 legged stand. They are approx. 41" long and are big enough to make a hanger 16" long x 2-2 1/2" deep, and I used a piece of #9 wire for the hanger. I can put 30 rats on the hanger.
