True Ice fishermen like this fine yank should be allowed to drink and drive if they can pass a DMV driving test while drunk. There should be a special designation on the drivers license specifying that exception. Ice fishing as a way of life is just that important for a productive society.
For those who are against drunk driving, I am not talking about those who are lousy drivers when drunk.
Disclaimer: I am currently drunk, yet still confident that this makes sense.
No matter though. I challenge anyone to explain how ice fishing makes any sense to anyone other than drunk yanks.

Oh yes I have Nessy. Drove a '73 Beetle out on the ice to do it. That was the last time I went ice fishing and the last time I drove that Beetle. I got it off the ice but not far off. It broke in half on me. Too much salt took its toll. The Do Not Pass and the Stop signs for floor boards just wouldn't cut it any more. We drank some beer that day...

The big lakes inside Michigan are frozen. Our Tipup Town starts Saturday. Last 2 weeks.

Lots of fishing contests and a carnival, all on the ice. That's on Houghton Lake.

50 degrees today and rain the next four days. We are going to have a short season this year.

Was thinking of fishing Newfound for the Meridith Derby...on the Hebron side ...way up the end. Been fishing that same area since 1988. If I don’t make it......I will make the Newfound derby....I’ll shoot yah a pm ...at some point....could meet up at the Trading Post / Bait shop.

How thick is the ice down there? It’s not truly ice fishing unless you gotta drill through 3 feet of ice. Lol

I only needed an extension ..once. And I didn’t have one. So we used an ice pick for the last 8 inches. Haven’t been out yet ...but hearing the smaller lakes have 12 inches....and the big lakes ..no clue......but it’s making ice everyday,and that’s a good thing.

I live within a half mile of where you will be on Newfound. Will you be off the town beach or sleepy hollow?

Went ice drinking this morning...Tewksbury Pond in Grafton.....not one flag ! On the Hebron side ..we go past that motel on the right...and fish the Northern part of the lake....don’t know the names...like Sleepy Hollow.

Nessi, sleepy hollow is gated off with achain and signs and no place to park there now. Went to the town beach Sat and there were 20 cars there and another one coming in with a house from New Boston.

Its making ice fast now. -13 last night.

-8 here right now and the wind blowing hard. Looks like that will be the high for today.
