Mama made us all take piano lessons as kids, and I’m sure glad she did. It’s a fantastic foundation for anyone to have even if you don’t stick with it. Then I taught myself bass guitar in a week or two as a teenager. Knowing piano made it easy.

I play a little guitar. Not learning to play musical instruments is one of my big regrets.

My wife and I both agreed that our 3 boys would start piano lessons at 8 yrs old. They are now 18, 20 and 22 yrs old and play a pile of different things-guitar, piano, trumpets, saxs, french horn, cello and a bunch of small instruments.
The boys were all home from college until last Sunday. It was great to see and hear them play and talk about music together. Looking back, I think it is one of the best gifts we gave them. The joy they get from playing will be with them for their lifetimes.

If you have young children, give some thought to getting music lessons for them. It may not be pleasent when they are practicing at first, but seeing how happy they are when they play later on makes it all worth it-you'll know you did a good thing for them.

I play the Bowed Psaltery. Supposedly in the top 10 easiest instruments to play. I've played it in front of the church a time or two. And always at Christmas.

My goose and duck calls are as close to a musical instrument that I play. Tried to play the coronet in school, but that never turned out very well.

Been playing guitar since the 70s. Played out quite a bit in bars and clubs over the years. Used to be good money in it but not so much anymore. I still have a few amps, mics, cables and other stuff that I need to send down the way. I've sold off all my Les pauls and am down to a Martin acoustic. I made sure each of my kids learned to play an instrument, and while at the time they were annoyed with it they each said they were glad down the road.

Played trumpet and french horn through high school. Picked up guitar, mt. dulcimer and harmonica since then. Have had great times around camp fires playing music with friends.

Wright, you might find a good home for it if you, or somebody you know, can check with the music teachers in the schools around you., especially if it a portable unit.
The big pianos and organs can be hard to get somebody to take away.-I hope I never have to move the piano we have in our house again, It's all four men could do to move the thing into the house and we were in our prime at the time.

I tried local churches with no luck. That's a good idea about music teachers. Heck I'd even deliver local.
As kids we wanted these/any instrument, kids today not so much it seems.

When my Daughter got older she was set on selling one of hers to fix her car. I dealt with her that I'd fix it and she could never sell an instrument, she later thanked me.

My Grandmother had an ancient player piano, I loved that thing. Yes heavy.

The organ can be handled with two guys. Could deliver to Pa Convention if a kid wanted it.

Krispcritter, 330-trapper and all the other trumpet players.. YES! The best instrument!!

Taught HS Instrumental Music for 44 years.

Had a cartoon on my office door: "The end of the world has been cancelled due to the lack of trumpets".

Congratulations to any trapper who played an instrument as a child through adolescence, whether by Mom's force or because you loved it. If you're still playin', God Bless You, and thank your Mom, Dad or teacher.
