I work with horn as a hobby. When I get new horns the house cats are always very interested in them... Sniffing rubbing, etc... And when I turn horn on the lathe and get the chips and horn dust on me they can't seem to keep away from me.

There's something in horn that attracts cats. Especially male cats.

I doubt it's a magic acctractant, but it might provide enough of a curiosity factor to close the deal at a set.

Likely the Carotin (?) is like the horse hoof lure smell.

Horse hoofs and goat hoofs both attract felines and canines as well. Every time we trim a goat's hoofs, all the bits we trim off, immediately disappear. We have never had to clean any hoof trimmings up.

Hadn't considered that. And it's likely the correct answer.

The horns themselves don't smell like much. The chips from turning have the lovely aroma of burned hair. So maybe yanking a handful out of your noggin and torching it up at the set might work too. Lol

Could be a great lure additive or used in a separate spoy on a set.

had a job one time making knife handles out of Buffalo horn.
They were made in halves on a CNC milling machine and then riveted around the tang of a knife.
That stuff sure did stink up the shop while cutting.
