Going to pick up a semi-auto 22 for the trapline and was looking at the beretta U22 or the ruger mark IV. Both come with a rail for mounting a scope, which I'll most likely install. I'm familiar with ruger, but not the U22. Anyone got any information, good or bad on it? Thanks, Worm.

agree with topknot go cheap Me too. It's gonna get abused and will continue to get it done.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I plan to use this pistol to hunt with as well. Squirrels and rabbits, maybe coon. That's why I want one with a scope rail. I already own a shoulder holster made to carry a scoped hand gun and it will be completely enclosed and somewhat protected. I like the rugers, maybe go with an older mark II?

Rough Rider for my deer camp trap line. I work off a 4 wheeler at camp.
I have a Beretta Bobcat for my home lines. It is a lot easier to carry in my pocket.
I wouldn’t want a scope on my line guns. They get wet a lot. With a cheap gun you don’t worry. Something cheap enough to just spray it out with WD 40 and let it drip dry. If I carried one of my nice pistols, I would be cleaning it way too often.

Worm look at the reviews on the Ruger SR22. It's a VERY good trapline gun. Much, much better than a heavy, slow loading, low capacity, piece of Heritage. This is what I use and I love it. I do plan on getting a Heritage Rough Rider though. I would like to be able to shoot shorts, plus, I just like wheel guns.

I have an old 9 shot wheel H&R that works well on the line for over 20 years shoots long rifles or shorts

SR22 is very accurate but I will not use it on my water line. Heritage is good enough for an occasional dunking, though! Chris
