Woods &a Water. Only made for a short period of time.

In my opinion, 20 to 40 bucks is rather high. More like $10.00 to $20.00. IMO

You will probably never see where I differ from wissmiss because she is the knowing of traps, but this time I have to disagree with Nancy. That trap is called the spur trap and was made in the year of 1903. Is was made special for trapping on the Rio Grande. The spur, would not kill the critter, but would put a distinctive part in it's hair to distinguish the fur which determined if it were Mexican or American. It saved a many of trapper from having to pay a percentage to the Mexican Gov't. It's extremely rare and on ebay will fetch 15,000. Great find!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Catch22, you are certainly entitled to disagree with me and I appreciate that you are doing so in a civil manner.

I will stick with my determination that it is a Woods & Water made in the early 1980s.

I will say this, if in fact the trap in question is a "spur trap", I'm a lot richer than I knew because I have a dozen of those traps, in new condition. Just saying.

I am scratching my head trying to figure out what animals that they were designed to catch.

I would guess muskrat. They have a mounting bracket that appears to be designed to go on to a stick/pole.

I thank you all for the information it is a very differnt trap and I like catch22s valuation better, but accept the truth of it not being a rare exotic platypus live trap for studies in the wilds of Australia

I think it may be dangerous to set. That moving jaw/spring steel could put a hole in you. A well as I would think Damage fur if not caught right

That would be my thoughts.

I may try to set it for a picture but I think maybe it's bent a little and will not set But I am guessing on how exactly to set it
