I'm am very sorry to say but Bud passed away last night in his sleep I would ask if everyone would keep his family in your prayers he will be greatly missed. Maybe some of you that knew him best could share some stories with all thank you.

Terrible news. I will miss him.
I am sure Bud and Belin are setting traps somewhere together.
Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Bud,
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
I remember one year at the VTA convention, no one would break out the "peach" or the "apple pie" for fear of you going on a tear. Seems you had recently broken up with a long-time girlfriend and the danger was too great.
At my first VTA convention (2012), you wanted me to take you to town...seems you knew of a place with "dancing girls"...for whatever reason, I made the correct decision and refused the offer. Ha.

I am sure Bud and Belin are setting traps somewhere together. And arguing about everything up one side and down the other. Those two were some special trappers and gave way more than they took in terms of promoting trapping in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I hold the upmost respect for both of them for what they did for us. I was at an Outdoorsman show one time in late winter/early spring and Bud showed up with a 5 gallon bucket with a giant live cottonmouth he picked up somewhere. He asked if anybody wanted it. There were hundreds of people at this event and packed in pretty tight. Who does that?! Brings a live poisonous snake just in case somebody wants it?! Bud Jenkins, that's who. The skin of that cottonmouth still hangs on my shop wall because I am the same kind of guy who goes to an Outdoorsman show just in case somebody shows up with a live poisonous snake to give away.

Dang, hate to hear this. Funny everyone is mentioning Belin at the same time as I was putting together a demo list for the first NTA SE and having a difficult time of it as it was short short notice to get the thing put together. Belin contacted me and said to get Bud to do a otter demo, id never heard of Bud, after Belin explained him, bless his heart, I knew I HAD to meet that guy and have him at the event, lol.
Glad I got to chance to meet him now. Miss ol Belin still also, maybe they won't have things too tore up around there by time the rest of us join them.

Years ago I got to know Bud a little bit through this website. We exchanged several messages, talked on the phone numerous times, and met face-to-face at a convention. He was pretty active on Trapperman around the 2002/2003 time frame.
I went overseas and lost contact with him. He stopped posting on Trapperman, and I just never reached back out. My fault. I did see a post some months back saying he was pretty sick.
Last weekend I was at Newt Sterling's Trapping School. A couple issues of Trapper's World were laying around and one had an interview with him in it. I read it and thought it was a great article.
Yesterday morning I thought about that article and found myself wondering how Bud was doing. Imagine my shock last night when I came home and read on here that he had passed away. Sad news indeed.
RIP Bud!

So sad. I'm sitting here looking up at the fine painting of a burrowing owl that Bud made and sent me last year. It is framed and on the wall of my office. I will surely miss him.
