I have mostly 650’s cast and a few jakes. Both will hold anything that steps Into them up to and including a brontosaurus. Looking at them and handling them the Jake is more the tank. Both bed fine, a bit of that depending on how you anchor. Both are “ soft “ on cats. Both hold WAY too many wolves. In fact I have never had a pull out from anything tho at times I wish I did. Both set very flat right out of the box.
Horse apiece.

Love my jakes .... But you gotta be willing to carry a nut driver to adjust pan tension after the catch . Also have to clean dirt / mud out of the notches for the trigger system. It's not a big deal, but it takes a little time. I've got a couple 650's and I have a had time getting them set with gloves on. I also have so!e 750's with setters and don't have any problem with them. If I was going to run 650's I'd have a set of the one hand setters. I also like the jakes because of the rubber on the jaws, there is NEVER any blood to deal with, and if you want to release one, there is no damage. I can't say that about my #3 bridgers

There are better fellas than me at this to be sure but I seem to be a able to clean and dye my 650’s better than the Jakes. They look better when done. It may be different metals or maybe I’m not smart enough to know how to do them differently.

Great point Savage I too have a set of Daves one hand setters. What a great invention and pleasure to use.

I think you would be happy with either one. Both heavy duty and made well. I mean the 650 is made by MTP and the Jake by jc Conner. Both outstanding people\ company

Mjs it's all about the trigger set up nothing like it out there! This^^ MB is a good trap but they copied the Sterling. In my opinion there is NOT a better trap than a Sterling. No pan notch to rust away like the MB and no adjustment like the Jake.

Got it. Hopefully a secure type area, with any you list someone following you could whack your pocketbook pretty good.
