Greetings Friends and Neighbors!

I make this post with my hat in my hand this morning for I have a request.

My son, Mudpuppy, has a tremendous opportunity coming up in July of 2020. His class from high school will be taking a 10 day trip to Europe that will give them an amazing learning opportunity. They will start in Berlin at the site of the wall that no longer exist between East and West Berlin. They will visit Checkpoint Charlie and some of the historical museums there. Then on to Warsaw Poland and Auschwitz where they will visit some of the ruins of the concentration camps. Their agenda has them visiting so much across Europe that I believe that in just 10 short days they will learn more about World War II, life in a war torn land and the plight of the Jewish people than they could learn in 4 years of high school history class. I also believe that they will return with a whole new respect and understanding of what our brave service men did over there and why they are now called “The Greatest Generation”.

But, the salary of a Wildlife Damage Control Agent in a rural county just isn’t enough to pay for it all. This is why we’ve set up a GoFundMe page to raise the 4000 dollars necessary to pay for the trip. If you would like to donate, to help a future leader of this nation learn more about the high cost of Freedom, then please, by all means, visit this link below.

I have often said that trappers are some of the greatest, most generous people of all. Help me prove that point!

Thank you all!

Do me a favor, Guys.

At least comment here once in a while to help me keep it on the front page for a while.

Thanks much!

I would have him go to some of the local organizations like the VFW, American Legion, Rotary, etc and present a pitch about the trip and at the end request assistance in the form of a scholarship, since this is school related. A lot of places give scholarships and having the young man, instead of his parent, make the presentaion will be impressive.

Here's something to get you started: https://www.gooverseas.com/blog/high-school-study-abroad-scholarships

I will bring this to the top to help you out. But, I'm also going to make a suggestion.

I highly commend your son for being an excellent student and nearly an eagle scout. That is very impressive and it sounds like he is a fine young man. July of 2020 is 17 months away. I think that is possibly enough time for your son to earn most if not all of the money himself. Earning the money himself would teach him responsibility and that hard work can pay off and it would also teach him how to save money. There are numerous ways for a kid to make money if they have the desire to. Kids can mow grass in the summer, get a paper route, rake leaves, do odd jobs & errands for neighbors, pick and sell berries, work at a fast food restaurant, or get some of his classmates together that are also going on the trip and have a car wash. I'm sure in North Carolina there are probably other opportunities for a young person to make money that I am not aware of. I just suggested a few off the top of my head that I did when I was a kid so I would have some money to buy things.

Good luck to your family and to your son.

Thanks, Guys!

Excellent advice. A couple of these recommendations I hadn't thought of.

I'll have to keep you posted as to how it's going.

I just checked on our status with this fund raising effort. We are a long, long way from our goal. In fact, we are not even off to a good start.

If it is that you can't donate, I understand. Truly I do. I have had those times when I couldn't get out of site if int only cost a quarter to go around the world.

But if you can't donate, you can still help by passing this link along to others.

https://www.gofundme.com/european-educational-journey

Donations such as these look really good here at tax time. This is an educational fundraiser and as such is tax deductible.

So, if you can, feel free to pass this link on to church groups, other forums, friends list or anywhere help may be. Remember, we're not just sending one kid to Europe. We are training the future leaders of our nation. One child with a solid understanding of history and the cost of freedom can influence many more around him.

Thank you for your time.

I would just like to add; Remember this is more than just a fund raiser to send one kid on a vacation. We are training the future leaders of our nation. One child with a solid understanding of history and the cost of freedom can influence many more around him.

Our modern educational system has failed us, turning out generation after generation of high minded, liberal, whiners who seem to only care about tearing down our history, mocking our nations heroes and destroying our system of government.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if, out of all this educational anarchy, that one teacher, in one school, with one class, could start a new educational revolution? What if she could take a handful of young people and actually teach them about the true cost of freedom? What if these 10 or 15 kids could actually learn a love and respect for this great Nation we live in? The Socialism and Communism that is being pushed in our schools of higher learning now, what if they could stare it in the face and see it for the evil that it is?

And this one teacher? What a hero she is! Think about it... While half of the world is trying to deny that the Holocaust ever even happened, she is taking these kids over there to show them WHERE and HOW it happened!

I so much want my son William to be a part of this educational revolution. One kid with a solid knowledge of history and the true cost of freedom, could influence all those around him.

If you can share this link with friends, church groups or anyone who you think might can help, then, who knows? It could go a long way into changing our future for the better. If not, at least comment here and help me keep this bumped to the top of the page for a few days. I found it way down on page 6 this morning.

Thanks much!
