Anyone have any opinions or experience with the JC Conner swivels....im looking at trying out some K9 jrs and im thinking I may try those swivels also...it seems to be a good idea for the purpose of bedding but im just wondering how they hold up to being ripped out of the ground when pulling earth anchors in hard or frozen soil and also the swivel action in heavy grass cover. Im sure they are stout like everything JC has out there but im just curious. Thanks

I have a few traps with the JC Conner swivels on them. I have never had a problem with them fouling with grass or pulling them through ground with frost.

They are the best swivels you can buy because they dont foul in freezing temperatures and they lay flat. However, they require quite a bit of work to re-tool your chain set up. If you've got the $ and the time, buy them. A 110 welder and a vise will put you in business if you want to run them

better than a regular by far, but you have to be able to weld

I’m slowly switching all my traps over to JCs rod swivels from crunch proofs. I haven’t had a problem or a tangled swivel yet. I had a lot of tangling issues with crunchproofs, but no mechanical failures.

Hey thanks...the welding wont be an issue. I was just worried about the action of the swivel and durability. I was looking them over and I thought it was a no brainer if you have the means of welding or modifying. I know a lot of times the swivel can be a pain in the butt depending on how the chain lays when bedding and I thought this would be a good solution. Thanks for the responses.

I really like them. I have them on all my traps except for 2 dozen or so. Good setup

Our ground doesn't freeze way down here, but I ran his swivels on a lot of coyote traps and never had any issues. I use the earth anchors with the chain instead of cable. No issues getting them out of the ground but I didn't pull mine I use a Stihl BT45 Auger down the chain and a 2 year old can walk off with the setup. Like Paul said on here once upon a time, JC doesn't make junk. Quality trapping gear. I don't think you will be disappointed.

ANYTHING you get from JC will hold up to whatever you can put it through! He sells nothing but top of the line products.

I have hundreds of them and really like them. I have never had to switch any out nor do I think I will live long enough to have to do it. They are compact and don't interfere with trap bedding like box swivels do at times.

I mig weld all of mine. It doesn't take very long once you get going. I made a little jig for holding them in position for welding Just make sure that you have a good bead on them. JC knows how to build things right. They don't come any better then JC and Mary.

Jim took the Sterling swivel concept and improved upon it. I made " Sterling's " for years. Now I can purchase a product that works just as well. For less than what it costs me to make them.

Anything can be abused but you will need to work very hard to hurt one of them

Great product

Perfect replacement for a sterling swivel except you don't have to make it...just a few tack welds

BIG time saver

PERFECT for the D ring connection as it lays flat for bedding

I prefer that style, lay flat and takes the grass and mud better. I make mine with a bob custer trapper bender 20d nail and a 5/16 nut. Not as sleek as the JC conner but I prefer them over the crunch proof.
