Seen a pig eat a rabbit once that was froze to apiece of plywood.

Yes they can. I had one several years ago that froze to death during a winter storm when the temps dropped below -35. The chicken was an older bird and always had her own spot on the roost and did not roost tight with the rest of the flock. I found her dead in the morning.
I now add a few extra heat lamps by the roost just to add a little more heat.

We had chickens for years, and they were half wild.....roosting in the trees as often as not. They suffered from the cold as any animal will. Their combs, as stated above, will freeze and blacken, then slough off. We had an old rooster----sort of a family pet, he was found the day after hatching, in the nest of his dead mother that was killed and hauled off by some beast of the night. He had one live sister, plus a crippled brother that survived that night too. That old rooster out lived every one of our flock. I don't remember how old he was, but his spurs were 2+ inches long. I felt sorry for the old bird and would bring him in my shop at night to roost in a corner not far from the woodstove. I may have accidently caused his death by doing that. It seems he became unable to tolerate the cold. I found him one afternoon hunched up in behind a board in the corner of the outside wall of my shop. He was about dead and it took most of the afternoon for him to thaw out enough to act normal. About a month later I was up running a trapline in the U.P. when my All Purpose Boy found him in the same shape up against the barn door. He was done for good that time. I believe he became too used to heat in my shop....sorta de-accustomed to the cold if you will. I actually kept him in my freezer for a few months, them mounted that old bird for display.

Feet and combs will get frostbite but my girls have heat and I use 2X4s for their roosts that way they can cover their feet with their bodies unlike a round pole roost the exposes more of the feet. With just 1 heat lamp (250w) the upper part of the coop stays around 50 above even at -2.

Wife saw where a bunch of chicken-minded folks are bringing their chickens inside the basement and setting up little tents to keep them in. I think I'll bring the cows and pigs inside too.

We lost our little bantam rooster yesterday. He was fine little after 3, he came to the back door and my wife fed him some scraps like always. I went outside later and found him dead. Not sure if the wind chilled him too much or if it was just his time. Gonna be quiet around here now. That's to bad, we have 4 bantam roosters I would hate to loose one of them little guys. They think they're the toughest guys around!

I have lost a few in the winter. Did they freeze to death, who knows? I had a perfectly nice barn for them to get into but they prefered to roost in the trees outside. Maybe they feel safer outside.
