There are more places to sell fur than the auction houses
If you put the time into finding alternate outlets for your fur you will trap more.
A middle of the road PA red fox gets me 35$
Taxi style of course
Don't put all your eggs in one basket and then cry about prices.
Can't wait to hear the whinning when the auction gets near
Some of you are just down right funny

I've had many people ask me that question. My sister-in-law asked me if I hadn't killed enough animals already. Of course my answer was no. I do have a hard time justifying it to someone who doesn't hunt or trap. I don't mean that to say hunting and trapping can't be justified, I mean that from a personal point of view.

They see the world from the evening news. All they hear is climate change, resource exploitation and polar ice caps melting along with dwindling polar bear populations. They link that to us. They think if they can limit us it might buy the animals some time. They have no understanding of the world we know.

Yea, but you are limited in that market. If not, go buy a thousand from PSB for 20 and make a pile.

I trapped from a young age and soon learned i could make money doing it. This was over 50 years ago.
That's not the case now, no matter how ya cut it if ya figure your time for anything. I won't do it for peanuts they are offering today.

Not ragging on anyone who traps for fun, don't rag on us who stop when it's not profitable for us.

I was not talking about getting rich.
I was talking about taxi skinning the best fur you have.
A red grading low 2s to high 2s might get you 10$, if your put ups are nice.
That same fur done taxi is 20$-35$.
Is it a small market? Yes. I sell to a few gun shops, and such.
And there is a coyote meat market.
This is getting in the weeds
I'm out

I started to keep coons out of my cattle feed. Then the challenge of getting an animal to step on a 2" circle. I think it helps turkey nesting success and really enjoy it.
