I just had one of the most frustrating trapping seasons I've ever had. If it weren't for snares it would have been a real wreck. I have been second guessing what I thought I knew to be fact. So the question I have is, At a dirt hole set do you use bait, lure, or both and what about urine? I realize this is probably not a new topic but I am new to this group. I would really like to hear input from you guys that have laid lots of steel for lots of years.

I always use bait at well pretty much every set for canines that isn't a blind set. Bait keeps them there longer. Lure all nonblind sets. Lure calls em in better than bait.

Urine...I don't use much of.

At a dirthole set? You can use any and all of those things. In any combination. There is no magic method or construction. The only element you are lacking is confidence, and that comes with time. smile

Pretty much lure only here, a little urine at times, but almost never bait.

I've used all types. I always use 2 in any combination. I feel like it keeps them there longer.

I for one try to match which I using to what the population is ,
Good pup population bait or lure urine if wanted
Mostly adult population base lure or urine
It seem to work for me,,, but nothing is chiseled in stone,,, find what works stick with it until they show it's time for a change.
