Do you all have a rule of thumb on how long to dry castors? Just go by feel? I never really timed it.

Drying time will vary depending upon the room temperature and air flow in the room. A heated area with a fan on them they will dry pretty fast. If the area has limited heat it will take a few days more but the circulating air from a small fan will really speed up the process.

I can dry them in 3 - 4 days. I flip them over after 1-2 days during the drying process on my hanging cord. This helps them to dry much faster.

Thanks Bob. These are in a heated shop with a fan but not pointed directly on them, maybe 50-55 degrees. I always flip them as well. How do know when they are dry enough to sell? I know how I like them for my personal use and I've only sold them a few times. Of course the main thing I'm getting at is they lose weight during dying so over drying would cost you money, yet I'd want them as dry as the buyer typically like.

Drying castor can be personal preference to get them just right for each individual I have found. I as a rule like the feel of dry to the touch but still some what pliable to feel/squeeze them.

Each castor dries individually meaning they can all be dried the same amount of time. However their size and internal castor volume will determine each castors dryness and feel. There is no question that castor will continue to dry over time if not kept in a freezer after drying. This will help to hold them stable until selling.

Thanks Bob. I figured it was mostly by feel.

I dry my on rabbit wire and lay them on it and do not need to move them like if I hang them on a wire. I also go by feel also.
