Keep hearing how good bobcat and lynx are. Only lynx here and every time I skin one the meat does look quite edible and would choose it over just about any other predator just by the looks of it. Two days ago I told myself I would save some meat from the next one. Today I caught another. So looking for some input. Searched in Cooking on the Wild Side, but only found fried and stewed. What is your favorite recipe?

I cooked up some bobcat as follows:

1. dry rub with spices and let sit in fridge overnight.
2. smoked in smoker for about an hour, good flavor and nice browning on the outside.
3. removed from smoker and placed in crockpot for the next 4 hours or so. Included in crockpot was a little beef broth, but just on the bottom, not covering the roast.

I think it came out well. My wife even tried it and said she liked it … until I told her it was bobcat. She refused to eat any more. The other dinner guests also liked it.

Let us know what you think of the lynx. I'd love to run a line for those one day, just for the experience.

If ya use the hams make sure you get the kernels out of the hocks. It'll taste like an ol' tom cat sprayed in your mouth if ya don't.

cci- haven't seen any house cats lately. . . kinda small to mess with. Haha!

Wanbli- Dry rub sounds good. Maybe one that is used for chicken or pork would be good as it is a white meat.

petey- Good advise! It is gland free.

nvwrangler- So you're saying to cook it like chicken? There is no number there to call. . .
