Feb 13-17 will be in San Antonio a block or so off the riverwalk with 3 other couples. Plan to see the Alamo, sights along the riverwalk but I have had luck in the past asking the TMan community for local attractions. One suggestion was to head down to Austin to watch bat's fly out from under a bridge??

What do some you guys and gals suggest?

Thanks,
Dave

Take the grand trolley tour around San Antonio. It runs like 15hrs a day but you can stay off at different stops as long as you like. Check out the el mercado market place. A lot to see.

Definitely the Alamo, try not to be too disappointed, It's completely hemmed in by buildings and city streets but still an emotional visit if you know the history, also check out the early Missions.

BBQ is only fair, lol

Dave the Alamo is a must but don't be surprised to see how small it looks with all the big buildings surrounding the site. The River Walk is really a great place. Lot of great places to stop in and view. It is really awesome at night if the weather is nice. The lighting makes the place magical. Very large city and diverse. I don't know much more than the downtown area.

If you like Mexican food I'd highly recommend eating at La Fonda during your stay in San Antonio.

I though the Natural Bridge Caverns were very cool, but I never really been inside a real cave before so it may not be that impressive to you.
There is a little town just up 35 called Greene. They have several little shop's to visit.
We always went to the drive in theater in New Braunfels.
The Alamo was ok and I went to the river walk 3 times in the 3 years that I lived there. I am not fond of big crowds so I avoided downtown as much as possible.
Couple of my favorite places to eat was Salt Grass Steak House & Rudy's (Barbecue).
If you like Basket Ball you could catch a spur's game. San Antonio loves their team and going to one of their games is a great experience.

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo is going on. One of, if not the biggest in the country.

My brother lives in San Antonio, I've spent a lot of time there. If you have the time before you go there read a couple of historical books on the fight at the Alamo. Get a clear picture in your mind of how the terrain was there at that time, the size of the town & church. Keep that in mind then look at the Alamo and let your imagination run loose. A little more up close & personal than we imagine modern combat to be.

Not as bad as I could be, not as good as I should be.

Buckhorn Saloon is awesome. You should check out the "pictures" made with rattlesnake rattles. From a distance they look almost real and then close up you see how many rattles it took to make them. Amazing.
