GritGuy trapper G Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 8,857 Magna, Utah	Probably the bounty on the coyotes here, lots of people after them the last few years and they are very skittish, doubt the weather had much to do with it as most cats are always taken to early here before the really bad weather hits ! Hard to say there are fur harvesters out, maybe they sent out this year, don't know why they would do that though ? Maybe some did not hit it hard due to prices last season ? Sorry if my opinions or replies offend you, they are not meant to !

There are quite a few trappers that have decided to take their chances shipping their furs this year in hopes of making a few extra dollars. These same trappers that no longer support our trappers association will be the first to complain when we lose more of our trapping privileges because no one will be left to fight for them.

mike mc murray trapper M Joined: May 2015 Posts: 497 utah	Well I do know that the catch was way down this year least ways here in the northeastern part of the state some of my coyote trapping buddies and myself were 60% or more off from regular years it's been really slow same with the cats still trying to fill my tags

Talked to DWR when we had them tagged, and they said they weren’t getting very many in as well. Some of the DWR employees stopped trapping early this year for the same reason. Last year was the opposite we didn’t have much snow around here and the catch was way up. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t reduce the number of tags next year. Nephi always puts on a good sale. It’s not there fault if the supply is not there. Another thing is the mountain lion population seems to be out of hand around here.

Lockjaw52 trapper L Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 228 Utah	The rabbit population has taken a big nose dive in most of the areas I get into. Pheasants are non existent, chukar numbers are low and I haven’t seen many grouse in my travels so maybe some predators are following suit. Hopefully the down cycle will be short lived if this is the case.

J Staton Unregistered J	While an AR cat doesn't hold a candle to a western cat, y'all have me wondering. If y'all's numbers are down I'm wondering if prices will advance on eastern goods? Now I can't decide whether to hold on to my cats until next fall or go ahead and sell now.

The only time we see pheasants is when the DWR releases them during the season.
