Will the MB 750 offsets be ok for beavers or will I need the regular jaws? Never done this but ready to give it a try. Thanks.

I prefer regular jaws for my beaver foothold traps.

Another vote for regular jaw. I’ve been told offset don’t work well because of how the anatomy the beavers foot is, the foot can slip out of offset.

I was thinking the regular jaws was what was best but i saw some in the shed and was debating making him an offer since they been to the top 3x and not sold.

You could change the five offsets to regular by replacing the jaws. They are $3.45 a set.

I would trade them out the next time you attend a rondy.

Easy to laminate them and put the lams together to make a closed jaw. Of course if you get them like this one in an offset it really doesn't matter...

[Linked Image]This particular set doesn't require a close jaw either.

Don't sweat the offsets on your 750s. I bought 6 just to test against the regular jawed 750. They catch beaver just fine. I've only lost ONE beaver in them over the years...and of course that was an ADC beaver. They won't get used for ADC trapping anymore but I have no problem using them for normal fur trapping.

Thanks yall. I have an update. I slammed him this morning in my foothold. I think i missed him the first night as my trap was tripped and at the bottom of my drowning rig. This morning I arrived to him sitting on the dam with my railroad iron and trap attached to him. Apparently the rr plate doesn't weigh enough to drown a good beaver, so me and my 14 year old had to take care of him swamp people style. I have pic but it says they are too large to attach, but he was caught by his front foot deep.I'm definately gonna invest in some mb750's just to be safe and use this one for a back up plan. Lol

That's about the FIRST LESSON Paul taught me at our convention in '03 when I met him for the first time and I was starting to trap beavers.

I arrived to an almost empty trap. Note the missing left front appendage. He either didn't go very deep or he managed to get the drowning lock worked back up the cable. I got him in a 330 under the ice some time later.

seriously you need that many. I've watched people drown them with a concrete block, and I know the iron weighs more.

Super weight they will NOT move= fill both sides of a concrete block with cement. Place a heavy wire loop thru the concrete. This makes it easier to carry and attach drowning wire or cable.
ps make sure you can drive close to set up. lol

I agree. More weight. However, I have converted to drowning rods, and won't go back.would much rather drag a couple of 10'x1/2" pieces of rebar than cement blocks.

Exactly what I'm about to go to.
