Seen bald eagles chase fox and suspect that they are adapting to prey on the kits but never even thought about a gho taking one on.
Had a fox hanging around and having grown up shooting/ trapping them, the urge was strong but there are so few now I've let it be.
Got a good amount of snow last few days and it's like an open book reading sign.
Going out the driveway yesterday morning, seen disturbance in the snow. The fox had jumped off a round haybale and made it about 20 yards where the tracks ended in a good sized divot.
Wing marks in the snow showed where the owl nailed it.
All was left was the 2 hindquarters and spine.

The owl isa frequent site and is often sitting on a snow mound right where the fox was killed. He likes to come right at dusk.
Sucker robbed me out of a nice pelt.
Owl hides worth anything? whistle

Ya about 10 years in jail or 100,000 dollars in fins or both

Those owls will take on even larger animals when hungry, no fear in them at all

Years ago when I had goats I had one take down a full grown nanny, maybe 80
Pounds or so

A 7-9 lbs. fox is no match for a bird of prey with 6-8 inch plus long talons sinking in along the neck or spine.

I have heard that a man wearing a coonskin cap was killed when a great horned owl drove it's talons into the back of his head.

In the survival of the fittest none are without enemies. The other day I was behind a semi and there was a red squirrel eating corn on edge of highway that had blew off.The truck scared the squirrel and he ran lenghtways to the truck and a hawk from somewhere came zooming in after the squirrel and got caught in the suction and got plucked by the wheels. Squirrel scampered off .

Last fall in a light rain our electric went off for about 30 seconds til a breaker farther down the line came back on. Next day there was a owl still gripping the wire and touching the pole. He hung there for a couple of months.

Even a yotey with a $1000 can't buy his way out all the time! It will take me a while to forget that one.

Owls are wicked but even golden eagles don't have that long of talons.
