I'm in the hunt too. My wife wants to try one of those purple mattresses. They are only a thousand compared to the sleep numbers. My brother loves his sleep number.

Gibb,
I prefer the floor to, but like you it is for my wife. Can you adjust it firm enough? Is it barable?

We dropped over $2,000 on a sleep number. One of us likes a much firmer mattress than the other. Makes for an odd platform with a noticeable break in the middle. It didn't work out for us.
It's a lot of money for what is really just two air mattresses in a foam frame.

I think if a fella got him self a Sleep Numbers Bed, a My Pillow, and some of them insoles from the Good Feet Store. Guy could cry him self to sleep and get the best night sleep of his whole life. Maybe I wouldn't even wake up at 3am to pee???? Might have to put that combo on my bucket list..

We bought one about 10 years ago. We both love it. I had back trouble before we bought it, I haven't had any back problems since. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. It does take a little time to find the right number that fits your body.

Some years ago, my wife talked me into trying a water bed for one year. If I didn't like it after a year, we would get rid of it. I held her to that and after one year, it was gone. Just about every morning, I woke up with a backache. Hard to roll over and when you did, the whole bed moved waking up your spouse.
Eventually we got a sleep number bed which we both really like. I like a firmer mattress, she prefers softer. You can do that with a sleep number bed. Also, because of the independent air mattresses, if one person moves, the other doesn't notice it.
It's the best mattress I've ever slept on. The downside is that it is very overpriced.

Had one, wife hated it so down the road it went, got a regular mattress, wife hated it, went to join the numbers bed, got a memory foam, wife hated it, bye, bye. Anyone see a pattern? I can sleep on a 40 year old broken spring regular mattress, but I still have the wife....
