Taking a trip to Banff in late August / early September this year. Looking for general recommendations of must dos as well as fly fishing guides used and favorite hiking trails.
Thanks in advance!

We were there in early August for our daughter's destination wedding in 2004. Great place to vacation. We encountered many foreign tourists. Maybe fewer if in September. There are great hiking trails and they can provide you very detailed trail maps with length, estimated time, elevation gain and difficulty ratings so you can work with family etc. if needed. The Ice field was a good stop. We also spent two days going to Jasper which is very nice and not nearly as much people traffic. As to fly fishing I do not have any advice on that topic. We stayed out from Banff a ways as lodging was considerably cheaper than right in the village.

As stated try to book in canmore it's just outside of banff and alot cheaper and book early. Will be overrun with tourists mainly rude Chinese. We did the gondola lift, had lunch and walked around down town briefly than drove to jasper and did some white water rafting, I'd do it it again the kids enjoyed it.
