Specifically for bobcats and coyotes. As the season on them winds down let's talk LDC lures. What do you guys like? I used a well known skunky LDC lure a lot this year that seemed really good right out of the jar but had almost no smell within a few days time at my sets. Couple of times I had coyote tracks within 20 or 30 feet of my sets and they didn't even notice the set. Didn't shy away, it was like they had no idea it was there. The wind should have carried it to them. I couldn't smell anything at all after a few days time at those sets. So I'm looking for 2 or 3 better options for an LDC lure to use and keep in my lure bag next season. The coyote I did catch was just on a flat set and no LDC was used, just gland lure and urine. I have heard really good things about Caven's Gusto and I'm going to try that this year for sure. Any other recommendations? Not gonna name the lure I used that seemed to not hold it's scent.

Doesnt mean they cant smell it. I get coyote and fox digging up snow covered sets that i had there 3 months ago. And that was with regular lure.

I getting to the point that I'm starting to think super skunky lures are over rated.

I really like Andy Weisers MT long call and I also like Ogormans LDC. I lure my sets once when I set them and rarely relure the set again unless we get pounded with rain or wet snow. Those canines can smell your lure and bait for a long time. Lots of times when I am looking for sheds I will go look at some of my set locations and they are getting worked hard three months after I pulled the sets.

My LDC goes about 10 feet from the set and It can be up high or right at ground level . I don't place It at the set there are better lures for right at the set.

Im not a guy that EVER traps in snow . But I trap in LOTS of rainy weather. Ogormans LDC , works great for me as well. I have came back to a place after turkey season to trap, 45 days latter their still digging at deep hole = That I put to much LDC down and made catch

For cats you cant beat visual attractors. Check out Lazarus's enticers: www.wyldwingsproductions.com! The slightest breeze will give them life and will pull animals from a long way to your sets. Cats will come right up to the enticer, so have your set within a few feet. Coyotes and fox will also be drawn to enticers but usually stay back and circle downwind. A urine post or turd set 10-30 yards downwind of enticers will take the canines. The only downside of these is they also catch the attention of people so you have to be careful where you put them. Visual attractors also work 360 degrees not just downwind.

The only 2 I've used are Cavens Gusto (been using it for 4 years & love it) & MJs Windwalker (only used it 2 years but haven't caught much w/ it). I always use it right at the set, hadn't thought about putting it high up..
