Thought I would pass this on- I’ve had a lot less trouble with chainsaws, weed trimmers, clearing saws, etc. after I started using Tru-Fuel. It was recommended by my Stihl dealer and at first, I was skeptical until I found out- he didn’t sell it. A lot less maintenance and carburetor issues, it’s not cheap but I run it in just about everything, especially when gas sits for longer than desired- like at the cabin. Extra price has out weighed the headaches for me.

What do you pay? When i searched it it looks like over 80 dollars per gallon at home depot? That seems like way to much, if thats correct i would just pre mix a can of non eth, gas and stabil???

That's the case price- it usually runs $19 per gallon but discounted at the store level if you buy 4 or more.

A carburetor rebuild kit for most small engines costs something like 30 bucks. At $19 a gallon for that vs something like $3 a gallon for non-ethanol gas mixed with oil and stabil, I think a guy would be money ahead just mixing his own, even if it meant a carb rebuild every year. I can see using it if you need fuel for long term storage, for example, though; up at a cabin as you mentioned, it may be easier to transport and store this stuff.

I would agree with Jacks. Just use non-ethanol fuel. I can count on one finger how many 2 cycle problems I have had related to fuel. I'm still running an 032 Stihl and a 266XP Husky after over 30 years of hard use.

I been using the pre-mix quart cans in my ice augers and chainsaws. Works great IMO especially when they are stored without usage for extended periods of time!

Can't get non ethanol around here. Most guys I know that use trufuel run regular gas until they are close to the end of the job and then run trufuel to finish up. That way the motor sits with the trufuel in it.

if you don't use a gallon a month or more in small engines it is worth the added cost.

it tends to run about 6 dollars a quart

husky and stihl have their own version of it that is 7.50 or 8 dollars a quart.

my dad lives where he would have to drive to the next county to get ethanol free gas and then it would be about 3.50 a gallon and he uses about a quart a year so a quart a year in true fuel is a big time and money saver.

it can and does go bad eventually but it definitely takes longer

not a bad idea to put the date you purchased on the can and the date you opened it on the can and only go a year form the date you opened it that way you should always fall in the 2 year shelf life.

one 80 dollar carburetor sure makes this stuff look cheap.

I run a 2 gallons a month in my chain saws during wood cutting season but have purchased some to fill my saws with the last fill or two before being done cutting for the season

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I use it for my weedeater and chainsaw. I live on an acre so I wont burn more than 2 gallon a year. It's great. I've never put anything else in it, but we don't have ethanol free fuel in this area.

It is what it is.

I'll bet you can. Here's a pretty big list of gas stations in Maine where you can get non-ethanol gas.
If you're worried about storage, just add the required amount of Stabil to the gas.

I would have issues with my snowblower every year. It would work for awhile and then quit. Always when I was furthest from the house and still had a ton of snow to take care of. Had the carb done. Then the next two years had to take it in to have it flushed out. I was about to take a sledge to the darn thing. I was using premium non-ethenal gas. High octane, and was still having this issue.

Talked to the service guy and he told me about trufuel. Went to check it out and had to cough when I saw the price. Bought some anyway. I would typically run the gas out before summer storage. He said to run it out of the old gas, put in the trufuel and run it so it circulates throughout. Did that and the next winter she fired up like new. Snow comes. I snow blow and run out of the trufuel. Go and put fresh Premium non-ethenal gas back in, that I have to drive 20 miles for one way. Starts up. Runs awhile and died. Didn't have any more trufuel, had to shovel the rest of the drive.

Next day bought 2 gallons of trufuel. Empty the snowblower of gas. Fill with the trufuel. After alot of pulling I get her started. She ran like new. Now all I use in that darn thing is trufuel. I found that with heavy snow, I go through a tank of gas. I can get 2 tanks of gas from one can of trufuel. So every tank costs me $10.

Is it expensive. Yes. Do I care that I'm spending $10 to get my driveway done when we have heavy snow? Not one bit. I hate shoveling.

The snowblower is the only equipment I run the trufuel through exclusively. All my other stuff, lawnmowers, trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blower, are stored with trufuel but are then run with the non-ethenal.

That stuff does work.

2 hours round trip. If you just use it for storage a can of premix will last most people a year. There is an airport not to far away but avgas is expensive as well as leaded.

I have a Stihl 015 that I bought in 79 that I still use and an 028AV that I got a few years later. I mix my own with non ethanol and good quality 2 cycle oil. Carb has never been off the 015 and the 028 carb has been cleaned once to resolve and intermittent problem. Also still use a Snapper hand held blower that I got in the 80s. Have replaced the gas line a couple of times because they get soft and collapse and had the carb rebuilt last year. Clean non ethanol and Stihl or Husky brand 2 cycle oil.

Nothing smaller than my car and truck get ethanol put in them. I personally see no need to pay TruFuel prices.

A carb kit is relatively cheap. Good luck getting the fudge out of the impossible to get to tiny passages. Most homeowners cannot fix a carb, or add the correct amount of oil to their fuel, or remember which can has the mixed gas in it.
That is who needs to buy this product.

I use Tru Fuel for storage. I run the tank empty before storage then fill up with Tru Fuel. Start the engine and let run for a minute or so. Ever since I've done that I haven't had a problem starting months later.
