I worked out of a little town called sweetwater down that way outside of knoxville about 30 years ago. Nice country. Lakes woods and friendly people.

I would not call them mountains, more like steep hills. The property starts at about 10 feet above the river level and ends up about 200 above it.

The water in the spring is clear and no red deposits in the little creek it feeds, so I am guessing its iron free till I get the bucket of the backhoe into it.

The admiral is the better half.

Its going to be a lot of work, but I like a challenge . And better tackle something like this while I am still young

I am going to have to record the shrimp clicking and have the missus rock the house when a car drives past. At least the first few weeks.

Owls and whip-poor-wills at night will make me sleep good so long as I don't hear that scream from a screech owl. Like to listen to coyotes sing too. Flat head catfish are predators. Meat is as good as any salt water fish I ever ate especially the belly meat. Crappie is good too no matter what name the locals use for them. People in Tennessee are known for being self reliant but I bet you can stay as busy as you want too building stuff, fixing stuff and making parts. 40 acres is enough to raise a couple hogs and steers. One of each to sell and one to eat. Plenty of room for a garden too. Nothing like eating stuff raw right of a garden. Green beans, sweet peas in the pod, chili's, radish's, spinach and collard greens, corn, tomato's, and potatoes. I think you will adjust to living on dirt again just fine.
