Coyote is the big trim Item for parkas because it is one of few fur that sheds frost rime easily.
But I get a bit of work to trim other items with fur.More for fashon than utility.
I just did this native reversible hooded shawl with a strip of lynx. The puffy lynx fur is as light as a feather.[Linked Image]

That is sharp Boco, really sharp. Can you add on to leather/buckskin garments as well?

Thats gorgeous , Boco !

Lynx is so pretty. Really like how you spaced the darker bands of colour.

At first glance I thought it was crystal fox ! I have a lovely headband out of that type fox.

Well done !

I have always thought that some fur sewing guru (like Boco) could do something magical with civets for trim. Like maybe on a sheared beaver or mink?

Thanks,Yes Osky fur can be put on anything.I have even sewn muskrat fur collars on work jackets.
I have worked with striped skunk,BP.It takes a lot of pelts to make stuff with skunk, and you have to match the stripes.
The spotted ones look more uniform in the markings.
Yes Sharon,I really like the look of crystal fox.

Looks great Boco-the only problem with lynx is that it wear out really quick

Beautiful work Boco.
I would love to get my hands on some lynx to tan and create something one day.

Lynx last as long as any other fur,and better than most.I just patched a lynx hat I made for a guy about 10 years ago.The guy wears the hat all the time in winter,in the bush and town. The mice clipped the hair on the one side when he left it out at his trap camp. After a cleaning and brushing it looked the same as a new hat and you could barely tell where it was patched.I got it here,I haven't sent it out to him yet.I will take a pic of the side that's patched.

Here is the other side of the old hat all original. [Linked Image]

Here is the piece I cut out that had the mouse damage.I used it as a template to patch in a new piece of fur from a fresh skin remnant.I tried to match it up as good as possible but it is hard to get it perfect putting a new piece in a 10 year old well worn hat.Being lynx that was easier because it doesn't fade like other fur. When combed and cleaned lynx fur comes back very nicely compared to other fur.
