What is the best way to remove essence from a skunk thanks

I used a syringe with a hypodermic needle and draw it out.

Just make sure you don't pull the plunger all the way out of the syringe. Don't ask me how I know. LOL

Best way is to remove the pods, then extract the essence. After you extract it, the pods work really well as a LDC lure hanging over a branch next to a set.

I use these. replaceable inner gasket lasts about 50 skunks. large orifice for speedy extraction. Solid glass with screw on top.

A well placed lung heart shot . They don't tend to do a full on spray. Just shoot and leave them be! Don't know for a fact but I hear acetone dispatching will affect the essence giving it a orange tint pure quality essence will be a yellowish color. I keep the meat and fat for predator baits. lb per lb skunks have very little unusable parts. Empty pods are also very attractive fresh or completely rotted down. I find the totally rotted down ones to be superior to fresh.

I hate reading posts like this...afraid I’ll jinx myself. Only ever seen one ina cage trap in Georgia. See them on the highway smooshed all the time. Never in the wild...and for now, NEVER in a foothold!

Numerous stuff ldc is probably the biggest reason PODS if done proper will give you a good fixative that adds a nice side smell

all I use are the small syringes the hospitals use for saline any syringe will work. misery skunks are only good for half a oz or less ! FYI a small container of olive oil will save the plungers on your syringe and if you can keep outside contaminents out it can be added to your essence later.

As mentioned above, replacement gaskets are handy. Essence will eventually eat thru the gaskets on the syringe plunger.

This is what I do, except for the branch part, lol.

A 12 cc syringe isn't enough per pod, all the time up here, but that smaller syringe works well, and I'll wash it up quick after I'me done, and do all your pods for that day at once to keep your syringe working our you'll pull the plunger off the rubber end of it in there when it decides to stick, after the quill turns it into something so sticky it will stick.
A 40 cc syringe will work but quits working a lot quicker, but will hold nearly all the quill from both pods almost every time. I'll occasionally get more than 40 ccs of quill from some skunks though.

I used to use a syringe but now I just hold the skunk in one hand with the tail folded up on it's back and squeeze the essence out. The smell doesn't bother me at all so this way is much easier for me.
