I remember reading that marten trappers use turpentine to remove sap I believe.
Hopefully others can tell you form experience

I don't have any knowledge about your problem with the sap. But I remember seeing a video on youtube where a guy was tumbling martin fur and the sap crystalized and brushed out easy. I think it was a guy named willam Larkin professional martin handling I think.

Go with Odorless Mineral spirits or a spray can of brake cleaner from the auto parts store.
