I feel like I am 10 years old all over again. I want to make a model airplane now. A Spitfire to be exact. Maybe this time I won't get all my fingers stuck together or wander around the house all high from sniffing the glue. (I said maybe.) Yup, I wouldn't bank on it!

The air battle of Britain was the major turning point in that war. After that it was all downhill for the NAZI's. Just as a footnote,Hundreds of Canadians fought in that battle as members of the RAF.

That was so cool! What was that other plane in WW2 that had the teeth on the front of the plane?

P-40 american plane designed by Glenn Curtiss in NY. The flying Tigers made that famous in Indochina. I saw several that were private owned in Australia when I was there in the '70s. It had 50 cal while the spits at first had only 30 caliber at first Great film thanks. I just loved those planes and I too made models of them all out of the Balsa wood and tissue paper and painted them when dried......jk

Very cool footage! It reminds me of when I was a young boy watching war footage on TV with my dad. The dogfights were my favorites and there was one program on Sundays called "Victory at Sea" that featured a lot of actual footage of battleship skirmishes and Kamikaze crashes that we watched religiously. This video sure brings back a lot of memories . Do any of you old timers remember the names of some of the other programs that featured actual war footage?

There was a series put out in the early 70's by Thames television(british)called "The World at War".There were around 20 episodes with good footage from all theatres.I think you may be able to pull up one or two of the episodes off youtube.

Thats awesome. My dad was a fighter pilot in ww2. Flew i think p47 to p51? Got shot down in burma in enemy territory. Said the were looking for him and could hear them talking. Was lying by a log with his 45 to his head because he saw what they do to fighter pilots. Was presumed dead but made it out alive. Over the years he earned a bronze medal distinguished flying cross and oakleaf clusters.. Had to be pretty scary for a kid/young man.

My favorite was black sheep squadron, but it was based on the war in the islands that the japs were on. Used to watch that every afternoon after work when my boy was five or six!

Lee that was a good show. I liked how they used actual footage in it.

Good suggestion and Lee also mentioned a program that was popular but I am talking about OLD Sunday series that we watched in about 1954-1956 and were in black and white. The names escape me and I was hoping someone of vintage could remember some of them. These were more like documentaries but were on every Sunday and had great battle footage.
