This week marks the 50th. year I have had this little rascal with me day and night. I was in a bad wreck with a horse and broke my right shoulder blade as well as the injury to my shoulder joint which destroyed the rotator cuff and the shoulder wouldn't stay in place. An old surgeon inserted the screw in there to keep it from dislocating. On the top it has been bone to bone for those 50 years and has required 4 clean outs of spurs and bone pieces over the years. I have had limited use of it all that time and it is getting less and less until total replacement is coming not too far off. It is possible to live with pain.
Sit on your horse on top of a ridge, look out across the country and tell me there is no God.

I broke my back 25 yrs ago, And yes I have pain most everyday. There isnt much I can do about other than pain pills, and Im not going that route.
The days when there is no pain, go way to fast.
I had a horse run over me, I went to work that same night. It hurt like heck but just sucked it up.
You know rub some dirt on it and it will be ok.

I had to have this chest x-ray made because I am going in next Wednesday for cervical disc fusion. The Doc said that the ACDF is usually day surgery now a days but because of other health conditions I will have to stay at least another day.
Back in the day when I had the shoulder surgery I was in the hospital for a week and had a half body cast for two months.

I have had four rotator surgeries. Prior to my third, the surgeon asked me if I had a screw in my shoulder. I confided that I did not know, but never had a problem going through an airport. He said that the name of the procedure I had a few years before defined the use of a screw. After the surgery, the surgeon showed me pictures for old suture cord. It was a braided cord that looked like Venetian blind cord. Of course it was much smaller. The suture material had been in me for about 8 years and was as white as snow. No staining whatsoever. The screw was made to dissolve and was gone. Not much blood supply to a shoulder tendon.
All four of my rotator surgeries were done differently. Two were invasive and two were with a camera. All four were different however. tator

Tomorrow I go into the hospital for my atrial ablation. All I can say to all of this at my age is: Getting old is not for sissies!
I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

I tell my Doctor's that it is not my age, it's the high mileage. Good thing I never tried a horse! Lol To those that say they have never been thrown off of or hurt by a horse, I can only say they never got on enough or spent enough time around them.
