I was surprised to see a video, supposedly shot last Saturday, of a Lynx in a families yard in Lexington, Michigan. Lexington is in the S.E. area of the "Thumb", in Sanilac co. You can Google "Lexington, Mi. Lynx video". I don't know how to do the link deal (lynx deal?).

P.S. to above...the last confirmed Lynx in Michigan was in the eastern end of the U.P. (Mackinac co.?) way back in 2003 or 2004 I believe. As far as I can find, the last "original" Lynx were seen in the Lower Peninsula in 1917, near Grayling. U.P. Lynx turn up every now and then, and were legal to hunt when I was too young to do it. The last legally taken Lynx was shot in Mackinac co. in the late 50's. I used to bear hunt with the guy that shot it. He got it in front of his hounds.

Isn't that the same general location that had the wolverine about 10 years ago?
I have nothing clever to put here.

A lynx was caught in a coyote set in the Hiawatha National Forest awhile back, the guy took pictures of it and it made the front page of the Escanaba Daily Press. That maybe the one you mentioned around 2004 or 2005,I can't remember when it took place,I didn't think it was that long ago but I could be wrong.I remember back in the '80's a guy from Mackinac County telling me about his first attempt at 'cat trapping, when he checked his set he had a lynx.He said he stood there looking at it wondering how he was going to let it go when it backed away from him(he said he had about 3' of chain on the trap)and took off ,it hit the end of the chain and flipped out of the trap.I remember old timers talking about them but I never saw hide nor hair of one.Sure is a surprise seeing one in the lower peninsula.

I live just a few miles from where the wolverine was sighted. Emterra has a large landfill very near there with a steady delivery of garbage from Canada. Not too hard to imagine the short ride in the back of a truck. As to the Lynx, who knows? Lexington is not far from Canada either.
