fossil2 trapper F Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,550 minn	generally, the nails are of a softer steel, so theyre usually welded shut. also, a lot of the imported j-hooks are softer then the American made ones, and should be welded shut also.

Willy Firewood trapper W Joined: Jul 2017 Posts: 2,672 Ohio	The heavy J hooks from MTP never let me down. I do not weld them. One use only. If I open one, it gets replaced. I don’t want to take the chance that the metal may soften. The metal experts can explain that. FRAC LIVES MATTER
