Just bought a 60 Qt. aluminum pot from Home Depot and it has a basket and lid for boiling new traps to get the oil off and then to dye them in. It is huge and will even handle several 330's. I like the idea of the basket so I can lift the whole load out at the same time. I also got a bunch of new traps from MTP and that flat rate shipping on big heavy orders saved me a ton. The wife was not real happy when I had the UPS driver back up to my pole building to unload several large heavy boxes!!

Your idea definitely sounds better but I wanted to do it cheaply so I bought this huge (unfortunately galvanized but it works) steel bucket thing at Tractor Supply for $19.99. Works great so far, may need to put a bead of weld on it eventually around the seams. I think it's this one but it's now $2.00 more I think. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...zed-sheet-steel-utility-tub?cm_vc=-10005Make a trivet using flat stock, throw over top of some cinder blocks, and make fire underneath.

Perhaps you should break her in slow and just order a little at a time til her system builds up immunity. Too much all at once could be to much shock on her body.

Menards had big enameled canning pots on closeout for around $20 with the lid. Will get the size when I go out next time.

That’s an oyster and shrimp pot not a trap boiling pot. Get a cheap galvanized wash pot and save the 60qt for oyster steaming.

Old propane tank with top cut off works great and its free! just make sure that you pull the valve off first before cutting or drilling or you might go out with a bang.! To prevent the gas still in the tank from igniting(remember the gas tank is unpressurized not empty or gas) remove the valve and fill completely with water. Drain the water and your left with a now empty tank. If you need proof of this my dispatcher can upload pictures of her husbands burns for you.

I bought the real galvanized tub from TSC that is all soldered and have been using it for about 8 yrs now and works great. Holds quite a few traps.
