I had talk with my gunsmith last year about side hammers since that is all I got that there is not many people wants them anymore because of the inline ones are being the thing now.I had bought 50 cal from him in TC with a slow twist that way I am able to use ball and patch.I have 2 others that is one is a CVA and the other is a Navy Arms , that the twist is fast and need to shoot sabots .All are PC not flints.Just to let the OP know what the market on them are now.

Traditional sidelocks are a slow mover most of the time. An exceptional T/C should bring more than they do, but keep in mind that these are discontinued and their "lifetime" warranty means nothing. Spare parts are already becoming a problem. I have several and like mine, but lock parts are going to become hard to find.

not many people wants them anymore because of the inline ones are being the thing now.. Sad but true. As usual, folks get brain washed by ads and others that "newer is better", etc. Not many purists left! Baloney on "reliability", I've shot side hammers for over 45 yrs and NEVER had a misfire.....thanks to Dads teachings...we shot competitively for bout 10 yrs also, most of the 70's-early 80's. You'd be wise to join 1 of the several black powder forums, or maybe just Greybeards where you should already belong....to up the odds of finding a buyer.

fads come and go. many many people hunt with compound bows. crossbows are popular too. I learned to hunt with an old recurve. never have messed around with compounds or sights to much. for a long time recurve bows were about nonexistent in outdoor stores. now you can find a good selection anyplace bows are sold. longbows too. inlines like compound bows, are not going anyplace but I expect more traditional muzzle loaders to regain some popularity as muzzle loading continues to attract followers.

Danny, I can only hope you are right about traditional muzzle loading regaining popularity. However, The National Muzzleloading Rifle Association(NMLRA) has had it's membership steadily dwindle for several years now. A more telling statement is that the average age of their members is over 60. Today's youth are not interested much in history and very few are taking up traditional hobbies. There are a few, but I don't hold much hope for the future.
