My rats ran smaller this year for me with more large and mediums as a percentage. My 2xl-3xl and xl made up about 61% of the catch. My 5-7 year average is about 70%. The grade however had a much higher percentage of 1* grades. Which indicates my catching rats later but with the small size it tells me our early litters on my river lines were lost.
Coons graded a OK with with no SDG or SDBs this year, but only 10 coons. Only one 11 grade coon with all but 3 select or 1*
Both male mink were 1* but that makes them salable not valuable.

I don't know your put up, but just want to offer this piece of advice for anyone.

1st - They measure to the shortest part of the skirt.
2nd - They will put it in a smaller size if the coon are not stretched wide enough. I know they will go down one size, and may go further depending on how narrow the stretch is.

Do you have a pic of the coon in question, tbn?
Also don't forget about the shrinkage as pelts continue to dry.A lot of guys think if they board pelts to the size line that the skins will remain there. When boarding cased fur you need to skirt them between the size lines on your board to allow for shrinkage.

How do they measure the width as well as long, so quick ? As they probly have like a few seconds a pelt, probly just like anything else, maybe. They get fast at it, u get more lengthe on boards, I think, skirt stretched straight across, gain a little size, ur pulling down on tail, on wire stretcher , I pull on sides od back side , away from tail, more when tack out , pull with pliers sometimes
