I don't see the need for 4 coiling. A 4 coiled trap may come up through adverse ground conditions a bit better then a 2 coiled trap. But If your using the correct bedding material that shouldn't be a factor. When I bought my New Duke #2s the first thing I did was to take off the second set of springs.

I got a dozen of #2 Bridgers, dogless, mod, 2 coiled. They seem to have more spring tension than the 4 coiled #2 Bridgers with dog on. The new dogless seem extra stiff with 2 coils.
This is interesting. Hopefully they upping their spring rates. The Bridger 2s used to be adequate 2 coiled without mods...but too soft with mods. And the springs would go soft in a year. I hope they improved the springs. That said, just buy the 4 coils separate. The Bridgers have long pins that are super easy to add the helper springs when needed. They are (or used to be) far from the Duke Springs, Beav. I did the same thing when I got the 4 coiled dukes. WAY too strong.

Seriously, I have lots of 2 coil and 4 coil traps. I usually use 4 coils. I have some 550s that are 2coil.

You 4 coil haters need to try taking your purses off of your shoulders after you get out of your ford prius to set your traps! Hey 1crazytrapper, We think your "compensating" Lol...Never have used 4 coil because I don't use dirt for a trap covering, but wouldn't hesitate to 4 coil if needed.

The poster was asking about ONE specific trap. IF you don't have experience with that ONE trap why post? We all (well most of us) know springs vary greatly from trap to trap. We also need to know if that trap is standard jaw or has lams. There clearly is a difference in what is needed for springs between the two.
