Thanks for all the help and book marked the ones you mentioned. I don't want a heavy pair they get way to warm but looks like I have found some choices now.

I actually have a pair from Cabela's they don't say Wooltimate but mine are 24% wool and Poly and are great but they are heavy and very warm and quite. I only use them when it is super cold.

I will second the gostwear.com big bill wool pants have a pretty nice price point. I have a pair of ll bean that I really like. There not too heavy have banding in the waist to keep your shirt in and stretch in the waist band to accommodate layering under. They have been on the wrong side of the ice on a beaver pond and I would have probably froze in another material. Nothing beats wool!

I second this. I love my wooltimates. Went coyote hunting in North Dakota in January (windiest place in the world as far as I’m concerned) and all I wore was thin long underwear under them and was warm all day doing sets.

I prefer the lighter wool pants as well. Got a pair of Big Bill, lightest weight I could find (214MER, 80%wool 20% nylon), at some online military shop for around $70 new a year ago. Very happy with them.

Johnson Woolen Mill out of Vermont. IMO not the best but you get what you pay for.

I wear the Johnsons myself, and they fit nice.

Don't understand your quote " IMO not the best but you get what you pay for" as these prices are just about twice of the Gostwear prices?

If you are going logging, Johnsons are about the best. Bemidji Woolen Mills make a nice heavy pant too, but the waist is a little high, for me.

All them other brands are for yuppy hunters, near as I can figure.

The two I've mentioned are traditional wool pants for a fella that might want to stay dry in the snow when in the bush.

Wow, $750 for a jacket and pants. I hope their quality has risen as much as their prices. I wore Johnson pants and jackets for 25 years and then about 15 years ago a green jacket that I had only worn a couple of months started losing the forest green color and was turning a faded greenish yellow. I called the company, which if memory serves correct, had changed hands from father to the daughter. Anyway, after much back and forth she said sorry but I'm not going to do anything about it. I haven't bought Johnson since.

My mistake....400.00 for Coat and 225.00 for pants....the pants have a sipper on the side ,for easy on and off...plus 25.00 for suspenders.....So 650.00 total. You won’t find these at Wal Mart
