I think I know what you might be thinking of. Here in Maine we have Constitutional Carry but you can also still be issued a CC permit. If I'm pulled over by the law and don't have the permit, I'm required to immediately inform the officer I'm carrying a weapon. If you have the permit there's no requirement to let the officer know. There might be another benefit or two with having the permit but I don't recall what they are.

We have constitutional concealed carry but if you have a state issued ccl you are exempt from gun free zone laws. Constitutional carry does not exempt you from that in Kansas. Driving past a school or on the school grounds you can get arrested for constitutional carry/weapons possession but with a valid ccl you cannot.

States that have constitutional carry still issue permits so that you can carry in other states that have reciprocity with your state. If you don't get the permit, you can still carry in your home state all you want, but other states will require you to have a permit of sort to carry.

It is my understanding that Kansas does not require a non resident to have any permit to carry concealed.

I believe that Alaska, Arizona, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, Vermont and West Virginia have “Permitless Carry.” If you can legally possess a firearm then you may carry it concealed in those states without a Permit/License. may have to add Ok to that list....

I think you're right about that, or at least I hope so, as I carry concealed without a permit when I have chance to visit Kansas. But if you were to come up to Nebraska, you'd have to have a Kansas concealed carry permit, Nebraska won't recognize your right to carry without a permit. That's more what I meant, but I didn't explain it very well.

I posted the states that allow anyone (legally able too) too carry concealed without a permit. May have to add Ok to that list after some research.

I keep my ccl current for travel and other reasons.

I read that this Oklahoma law takes effect in November.

It is interesting that since the liberal city buildings where I live cannot ban concealed carry they ban open carry....

They just love the no gun signs on the doors.

Lee, Oklahoma recognized KS constitutional carry before this law passed. So KS residents could come here and carry concealed without a permit. But OK folks could not.

In fact, Oklahoma honored every other states' constitutional carry... While forbidding OK residents from doing the same.
