Disappointing to me that our society remembers the name of a poaching, murdering scum that thought laws were for all the other people, not him, and yet, very few on here remember the names of the two game wardens murdered. Sad...

I remember their last names but not their first. A lot of years have gone by. And their tragic fate is not forgotten here.

Indeed, Jack, I have often wondered the same, in news and otherwise, why it isn't in reverse, as the warped actions of those perpetrators do not even deserve the bandwidth , receive the attention they crave in the process, if they are living .

Thank you for balancing the heart.

It was a huge story in the 80's I remember it being in all the trapping publications...

And buying this book... There is a movie too...

I have not thought about that case in a long time. I did know who they were as soon as I saw the post.

I maybe be wrong, but wasn’t he released from prison?

Gulo,

Not try to be difficult, but , without looking them up, can you name any victims of Bundy or Gacey? Seems the notorious are remembered by the masses and victims by those who knew them. Doesn't negate what he did, just saying. I do not understand how someone, convicted of killing anyone, should ever be set loose on society..Nobody said life was fair.

Since I was only 11 at that time I figure that's why I hadn't heard of it. Thanks Keith.

I well remember the incident. I moved to S.E. Idaho to work in a taxidermy shop later that same year. I also remember the names of the two murdered officers. He, Dallas, was glorified by some as this modern-day Mountain Man just trying to live the Free Life when those heavy handed wardens tried to take him in.

I talked to Elms in Idaho City a couple of days before the incident. Really laid back nice guy. Neighbor lady was on the jury , I have been in Bull Camp before he was there many times.

This is a continuation of another thread here. The guy did wrong, was tried before a jury, sentenced, and did his time. Isn't that the American way? And what we know is what the media reported. Do we believe everything the media reports today?

I was in my mid twenties at the time and renember some of the peripheral stories of the wardens, is that they wete indeed heavy handed. I do remember that Dallas had a coon and a bobcat and the season was closed. Crazy story for sure.

I was 15 when it happened and followed it intensely. Wild stuff.
