I don't always remember to bring a camera and when I do remember I don't always remember to take pictures. So, in no particular order here are some moments I did capture.

[Linked Image]
First lynx of the season. Actually caught in fox set in a 1 1/2.

[Linked Image]
First collared lynx I have seen.

[Linked Image]
My wife caught a pair of foxes! Definitely a highlight for me!

[Linked Image]
One of the foxes she put up herself! Another highlight!

[Linked Image]
A good sized tom! They always look small when I drive up on the snow machine and then they start to grow.

[Linked Image]
A nice warm day for my wife and youngest to tag along.

[Linked Image]
I am not a snareman, but continue to learn. Caught this one in a well used rabbit trail that I also saw a set of fox tracks in.

[Linked Image]
Seconds before being caught. Unfortunately, I don't have footage of the actual catch just before and after videos.

[Linked Image]
Same cat as the above picture that was caught on a trail cam.

[Linked Image]
The two older checking things out.

[Linked Image]
A big 26" mink next to a cherry red.

Thank you! Terrific shots. The marten in front of your bride and youngest is a great picture. Very sharp young family.

Enjoyed the photos. You got a wife that traps? She's a keeper! Especially like the Lynx. Way to go getting the whole family involved!

Thanks everyone! It was a great season for sure!

As you can tell from the picture it was collared around the neck. Haha! After I sent the collar in I was given a map of where it had traveled since being collared. Originally about 40 miles southwest of where I caught it. What really surprised me is how often it appeared to cross the river (about 100 yards across) on a regular basis throughout summer time.

The red dot is the location I caught it.

Not only does she trap but she skins them and puts them up as well!

Good think you wifed her already! When I started catching I tried to get my wife to sew because I couldn't stomach sending what little I caught to the auctions. And that's how I started sewing...

Cool you got the kids out, that's always good to see!

Nice pixs
Interesting when you see the ten mile scale on the map, and the distance that lynx was travelling, sometimes it was over twenty miles between pings, which look like day signals.

Good pics all the way around. Wife, kids, fur. You just need to catch more..........fur that is! Don't wait for the fox to show you where to snare. Show them where to travel with your snogo. Works on lnx too.
mt
You shoulda got money for that collar as well!

I enjoy the map! I would think it would be extremely interesting to see the pattern of other lynx in this same area. This particular lynx didn't spend anytime in the southeast and very little time in the northwest corner. Those two areas are more open and flat. It preferred the timbered areas. More cover and food I guess.

I would always like to catch more! This year freeze up was late and the ice wasn't that great for traveling on. Do you set snares in you snow machine trails? I have tried blocking the majority of the trail and placing a snare but have only ever had any success with footholds on my trail. Again, I know I really need to up my snaring skills. I also need to invest in more snares.

Here is a typical set. My snowmachine trail goes right through there. The spruce branches on the right cover the majority of the trail.

Real nice pics!!!

Just a heads up..... Years ago when I trapped with steel I had a large male yote in a staked #3 and I drug out the camera for a couple pics. Well the yote had the stake all loosened up which I didn't notice until he ran off with the #3 and the stake. Took me about an hour to run him down for the kill shot. Moral of story is dispatch first (imo)…..

Good advise! I don't stake but rather chain them around good sized trees or put it on a drag. I also check to make sure it is a good solid catch before the camera comes out. Good on you to catch the yote a second time! Did you run him down on foot? Through what kind of country? The lynx in the first picture was caught in a fox set. When I showed up at the set I heard a trap chain jingling, but no critter at the set. I had forgot that it was on a drag and not chained to a tree. I thought I had something running away with my trap. I took off my coat in preparation to run it down. Ran about 30 ft and saw it pulling the drag and then I remembered. What a relief that was. You can see the spruce pole drag in the foreground of the picture.
