I remember seeing cigarette commercials on TV . . in black and white.
A dozen Blake & Lamb 2 1/2's was $25.
Going to the movie was .40, a large popcorn was .25 and a large soda was .25. A dollar gave you all three and change.
I remember penny candy . . . and there was lots of it.
I remember a .25 bag of peanuts when Beverly Jones scooped it out of the bin into a paper sack and you couldn't eat all of them in a day.
Helen Chambers' café had a fish and chips dinner -- three slices of cod, fries, a salad and a coke for .75.

#1 I ordered my 1st wire stretchers and UPS delivered them C.O.D.
#2 I bought my 1st traps Victors 1 1/2 stop loss from a store called Woolco (kind of like a Walmart).
#3 Soda out of a coke machine was .25 cents unless we walked 2 miles to a church who had a 10 oz. bottle machine for .15 cents.
#4 Penny candy was the 2 bottom rows and all the candy bars above were .10 cent.
#5 I would get up before everybody else walking the back roads looking for pop bottles, walk to town to cash them in and play pinball then buy my lunch. Maybe get home before dark never checking in all day & both my mom & dad were fine with it. (try doing that now a days).
#6 The Good Humor Ice Cream truck would come around in the summer time .10 cents
#7 We had to try out for Little League Baseball & hoped you got picked.
#8 If you were miss behaving the teacher would spank you her self or put a knot on your head from her big costume jewelry rings.

I only got spanked at school once. Miss Cameron. 2nd grade. Came to class chewing gum. Was against the rules and I was told to stick it on the end of my nose. Which I did. Of course the other kids were giggling and snickering about it. So when Miss Cameron turned around to write on the board I pulled that gum off and threw it at her. She pulled me up by an ear and smacked my haunches 3-4 times with one of those dowel rod pointers. It hurt and I wanted to cry but everyone was really giggling now. I was pretty careful not to disobey Miss Cameron again. Need to bring that back. Its good for kids to learn to obey their teachers.

I remember doing a mail order purchase and it always said "Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery" and I swear it usually took longer than the allowed 8 weeks. And that was even if it was in your own state. Nowadays I get stuff from the west coast in 2-3 days time....
We had an old pop machine that had the bottles leaning towards you at a 45 degree angle or so, that somehow the bottle got released when you inserted the money- didn't take us long to figure out all you needed was a bottle opener and a cup LOL. They probably lost more money from that machine than they took in, and the replacement was pretty much tamper proof.

25 cents would fill my mini bike with gas and buy me a candy bar. I had a job that paid 75 cents an hour and I was rolling in the dough.

And I remember teachers would paddle your hind end when you acted up. and most every boy (and some girls) had a rifle in the gun rack in the parking lot at high school, and when you had a problem with some one you settled it after school and there were no school shootings and kids didn't have time to be depressed and mental issues oh and there wasn't homeless people along every street in the cities. Guess I am getting old

1.28 was my first real working wage. Started in summer, upped to 1.50 if you stayed on to fall.
Guiding in the west in the fall many times I was paid in silver dollars.
I remember the first time I saw a Parker Hale rifle, poor mans weatherby. ( MTBowhunter Denny had it)
Bought my first little pack of hand tied flies from the back of a magazine from a couple guys named Cabela.
Porches. All small roadside businesses had a porch and chairs.
Those crazy box cameras people looked down into to use.
Dad popping hot flash bulbs out of his camera.
I knew other old Indians who never spoke English

I remember when condoms were 10 cents from the local gas station. Made for some darn good water balloon fights. Unless you were the one getting hit. LOL Sarge

Sheesh, I had a couple old trucks where the starter was on the floor. A 46 Chevy and a 48 International. You had to hold the brake with one foot, starter with one foot, one hand on the wheel and the other one to pull the choke. They had vacuum windshield wipers so if you were going uphill in the rain you had to let off on the gas so they would go like he.. for a second and then pour the coal to it to make it over the hill without downshifting. My buddies called my International a Rolls Canardly because it would roll down a hill and could hardly make it up the next.
Anybody else shut off your rig and coast down a hill to save gas?
LOL zim
