They use some here but have other applications I'm not sure what it is.
I know you don't want to buy an outfit from Minnesota. I have told even plastic rusts there.

Yup...now they put down a brine on the roads...before a storm....= More rust How effective is that stuff? Surely you've seen in it Pennsylvania? All the local roads and I-80 get treated with the brine around here. Seems to work very well.

I've always been the type of guy to hold onto a vehicle as long as I could, limping it along until it falls apart. I'm getting tired of doing that. With a growing business and a growing family I'm leaning toward purchasing new and trading in every 3 years or so. It's so frustrating watching a well maintained truck, that runs and drives like a champ, fall apart because of our winter road conditions. My last diesel truck had the bed support rails totally disintegrate. You could put your fingers right through the metal.

I spray Fluid Film under my truck every May and November....yes it’s a pain in the butt...But seeing that I have been doing Bodywork for the last 43 years....I know how to slow it down.

Northern most state with least salt use? Washington, just stay away from the mountains and the ocean. You ever drive in Washington east of the Cascades from November to March? Nope, I guess I should have specified western Washington. The guy is from PA though, not like he's actually going out west to buy vehicles. But from Olympic to Eugene (and probably into CA) there sure are a lot of old pickups on the road that would have been long gone here in NY.

You should buy a truck with an aluminum frame. Aluminum cans last a long time in the woods. The scrap value of aluminum is much better than steel

P.S. I have driven in some real bad weather before when I was real glad they were treating the roads. Salt won't work below about 17 degrees. Calcium chloride is worse than salt for causing rust. I don't know what that blue liquid is but that stuff has undoubtedly saved a lot of lives. X2 I am glad for ice melt chemicals.

I had bought the kit for my 2013 2500HD but never used it since the factory coating was peeling the 2nd yr I had it. Just traded it in Dec 2018 with only 29k on it for a 3500HD that I ordered. It will be my retirement truck so I am getting it Krowned undercoated on a yearly basis. And will be able to stay off the roads during a storm and the following day or two so that should help with the spray and ice/slush buildup. Will be using a fluid film spraying also along with Rustoleum touch ups on the bare metal.

North Ga uses it a few times a year. And most of Florida's cars are near ocean spray.....good luck.

I do this every fall to my vehicles. I am very happy with it. Ive had guys tell me that it washes off with water. Maybe hot water will but there is still plenty of it on there when I take them back the following year. I do business with a local tour bus company that sprays their buses yearly and that convinced me to try it. Kinda creeps out of every nook and cranny on the vehicles and makes them look dirty but Id rather drive a dirty truck than a rusty one!
