Wow reading what you all made when you were young makes me feel like I got ripped off.
My first full summer doing farm work ( I was 11) I made 72$ when I got played at the end of August.
I bought all my school clothes including a cool pair of sneakers.
And still had 20$ left that I gave my mother to spend how she saw fit.
I was very proud the wear those clothes to school.

as a metal detector those pull tabs hold up well underground while if you find one of last years pennies it may already be corroded through.

When we were kids we used to get a dime for scraping the ice after public skating.

Waiting outside of the Doctor's house in a line with people having chickens, ducks, piglets, eggs, homemade bread, vegetables, jam, etc. to pay the Doctor!
The Doctor using a pocket watch behind you to check your hearing.
The Doctor thumping your knees with a small rubber hammer to check your reflexes. If you didn't pass a physical - you were probably dead!

I remember when the Dr. came to your house with his black bag.
At restaurants the waitress would bring silverware and a glass of ice water to everybody without having to ask for it before she would take your order.
When almost all gas stations had a free air hose to use.
Cartoons were on Sat. morning only. And all TV channels went off at midnight with playing the national anthem, then came back on at 6:00 A.M.

Ha...just happen to recall the old dial phones. And the even older crank phones. I only recall having to crank one phone to make a call. Can't say I didn't use them for other purposes though......LOL Hey, it helped feed the family.

The first "bass" boat I seen was an old Bomber. A tri hull type boat that you steered from the front with a tiller type handle. You could fish all day and seldom ever leave that front seat. In rough water though ya wished ya had a seat belt to stay in the danged things.

Model A coils. Had a blast with those things. Same with condensers.

watching my uncle "lead" cast iron pipes in houses. I thought he was the greatest plumber to ever walk.

Another Uncle in Tn. would tell dad when we went there to squirrel or coon hunt, "you carry the rifle, I'll carry the axe" When the dogs treed you either shot the critter, "twisted" it with a saw briar, "smoked" it out, or chopped the tree down. Uncle John could fall a 15-20 inch tree in a very short amount of time.
