After closing the corporate headquarters and eliminating 2000 jobs after the buyout, BassPro has announced they will also be closing a merchandise distribution center at Sidney, eliminating another 121 jobs, plus closing a merchandise return center at Oshkosh, eliminating another 40 jobs. The hits just keep on coming.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Also, any Cabelas cash back bucks you have will (hopefully) be transferred to the BP card and the Cabelas card will be worthless after 1 Apr.

I knew it wouldn't be good when Bass Pro bought Cabela's.
I like taking the grandkids to the Cabela's in Hamburg just to see the sights. The walk-through aquarium stocked with trophy native specimens is awesome. So is the mountain with all the mounts and the bridge over the trout pool with the full-body moose mount standing in it. Lots to see but I haven't bought anything from them for years.
Eh...wot?

I think I'm doing buying from them. I never was a fan of bass pro stuff. Seemed to be made cheaper. I guess I might try buying from the employees who started there own outdoor place. I buy all my guns and ammo locally anyway.

Bass Pro is pretty much getting rid of everything that says Cabelas. Employee benefits suck and everything Bass Pro does is 10 years behind what Cabelas had been doing. Nothing like taking 10 steps backwards. We must be seeing 2 different things. Bass pro stores are now innundated with Cabela's items and they improved the employee benefits since the merger. It's sad to see how quickly the company(companies) that give the most back to preserving our rights to hunt and fish are the first to get bashed just because they are a big name or a big company within the industry. With the climate of the current trends in hunting and fishing(decline), there may have been 2 companies getting rid of ALL of their employees(about 50000) rather than a combined company eliminating several hundred. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see anyone lose their job but if you owned a company would you scale back to what you can afford and what makes business sense or let it roll untill all of the coffers are empty? Gander mountain is close to gone, I'm sure field and stream stores are heading that way since their lovely CEO decided he was anti gun, and I've seen many local gun shops close in the last couple of years. I guess everyone would just assume that hunters, fishermen, and gun owners didn't have a nation wide company that stands up for their rights and tries to keep sportmen and women relevant in the 21st century.

They are just trying to get rid of the name. You are dreaming on better benefits unless you were Bass Pro. Cabelas discount went from paying 7% over store cost to barely a 10% discount unless it said Cabelas or RedHead. No job is secure if you are on the Cabelas side of the merger.

When will you guys figure out, business ain't about making folks happy. It's about making money! If you think it is about anything else, you have never owned a business.

When will you guys figure out, business ain't about making folks happy. It's about making money! If you think it is about anything else, you have never owned a business. As a general contractor and remodeler I can tell you that it's much easier to make money with happy customers. I haven't paid for advertising in years and I am very busy all the time. All of my new work over the last several years has come from word-of-mouth advertising; happy customers referring me to their friends, family and acquaintances. I have hundreds of repeat customers who use me as their only contractor. Some of them will wait months for me to start their jobs rather than hire someone else. I've built my business by keeping my customers happy. And that has allowed me to charge a premium price. My businesses are in the service sector but I would think the same would be true for retailers; happy customers equals more profit.
Eh...wot?
