Tell us about this bee keeping book Shannon wrote. What all does it cover, how much is it and where can it be bought? From what I hear, it sounds interesting, and I'll bet others on here will find it interesting also.

Here is some information about the book and how it can be ordered. This is the release my wife sends out when clubs and other groups ask her for info. If you have any questions she can be reached through her website. She loves to talk about bees and plants so if you have any questions feel free to contact her.

Plants Honey Bees Use in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys
By: Shannon Trimboli © 2018

Plants Honey Bees Use in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys is the first book to focus on the plants used by honey bees in the states containing the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys (AL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MS, NC, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV). This book was written as a guide for anyone who is interested in honey bees.

Across the country, honey bees gather nectar and pollen from a wide variety of plants. However, the specific plants a hive uses depends on its location. Some plants only grow in certain parts of the country. Other plants grow across a wide range, but honey bees may use them more in some states than in others. Even within a state how much honey bees use certain plants can vary from one location to the next depending on a variety of factors.

For these reasons, books and other resources focused on the entire country are of limited value to those who want to know what plants honey bees might be using in their location. Plants Honey Bees Use in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys fills this void by providing specific information relevant to honey bees in the states that make up the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys.

Written by a beekeeper and wildlife biologist, Plants Honey Bees Use in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys contains full color pictures and descriptions of over 175 plants organized by when they bloom. Also included are chapters about honey bees and their plight, honey bee foraging behavior, factors that influence nectar and pollen production throughout a plant’s range, and planting for honey bees. The hardcover book is 302 pages long and retails for $29.99. Whether you are a beekeeper who wants to know what flowers your bees are visiting, or a homeowner who wants to know what you can plant for honey bees, this book is for you.

Bumping this back up as it got kinda lost back in trapping season. Been a good spring for bees here in Kentucky so far. The weather has been good and with all the rain the early bloom was great. The tulip poplar should really get rolling in the next week or so.

i'm fortunate to have had a honeybee tree on the farm for as long as i can remember.secondly i'm even luckier to have a neighbor that trades me all the honey i could ever want.with that being said i think i'll order it to learn something then give it to the neighbor lady.seems really interesting.
