First there is no, federal statute mandating that a private business, a person or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services. I heard on news today that some states I can't remember which ones, but they are passing legislation that businesses have to except cash for payment of goods or services. If they don't they will be prosecuted for breaking the state law.
I have a hard time if a business wouldn't take cash for payment. That is totally wrong in my book, I have cash and pay with cash for almost everything under 50 bucks or so. It is money that I get from buying and selling, trading and barter through the year.

Yep, I agree cash is king for me also. I like having the Benjamin's in my pocket. Lol You throw one of them down and they are grabbing their marker to make sure it is good. Lol It just makes me smile.

I use my credit card for almost everything. Earns me airline mileage, and besides, my wife leaves me with a mostly-empty wallet.
She's afraid I'll spend it if I have it.

I 've been to hotels that don't take cash. That's because if you trash the room they have no credit card to charge for the damages.

Jim I’m the same way. To me it doesn’t make sense to use cash when I can get cash back or miles using my credit card. I paybit off at the end of each month, to have to pay any interest. So if I’m not using my Southwest card, I’m leaving money on the table.
If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

I'm about 50/50. However, I think every business should accept cash.

I pay cash , for fur, glands used traps and what not. I do the same with used car and pickup parts. And by all means cash is king. ( but is the king present) my business is not set up for cards but we take checks also, and have only been stung once.
Let me sugar coat this

I almost always pay for a hotel at check out. That is debt I owe. Cash is legal tender for debts. I'm pretty sure they have to accept cash at this point. "The pertinent portion of law that applies to your question is the Coinage Act of 1965, specifically Section 31 U.S.C. 5103, entitled “Legal tender,” which states: “United States coins and currency (including Federal reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal reserve banks and national banks) are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues.” This statute means that all United States money as identified above are a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor. I 've been to hotels that don't take cash. Most dont for employee saftey. Cash on hand only 1 or 2 employees on duty front door open all night type of thing. I use a card for most things but strictly cash for things i dont want paper trail on.

^ my understanding they don't have too. There is no, federal statute mandating that a private business, a person or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services.
Place of business don't want to deal with cash, to many issues with employees pocketing money. There are many other reason they don't want to except cash also. A lot of places want to go paperless and do away with cash and not sure the Gov. is on board with it also, but would be a hard sell.
My wife uses CC on everything.

Can't really blame them. It's a convenience thing in this world too. Don't have to deal with wondering if the cashier can count, don't have loose change in every pocket of pants I wear, don't have to worry about my daughter pulling a Benjamin out of my wallet and ripping it in half, and the list goes on and on. Cash used to be king when you wanted to buy something while dickering but in all honesty it doesn't do you a whole lot of good anymore from what I've found. They get their money whether you're holding some bill 200 other people have touched or one little piece of plastic. Mine's constantly earning me money as well can't say that about the $1 bill riding in your wallet. They are making apps now that take your purchases rounded to the nearest dollar, and take that change and invest it in the stock market. You don't even realize you're missing the money and it's put away to grow. Times they are a changing.

Cash card for me it's just so darn easy. When I moved to SD many years ago they had counter checks from the local banks at the stores just pick one up fill it out and pay for your stuff but give them a credit card and that was a problem then.

Amen. I don’t think State or Federal laws should dictate how any company operates. If they want to accepts only cash or only cards and you don’t like that, then don’t shop there. Freedom to shop where you want to shop and freedom to run your business how you want to run it. It’s what makes free market awesome!!!!
