I tried the search feature but didn't find anything.

I'm looking for the dimensions to make a split board for wolf. I found the dimensions for a one piece board on FHA but no luck finding the dimensions for a split board. Initially I thought that I'd simply have to take the dimensions for the one piece board and divide by half to make one side of the board but I'm second guessing that now.

Does anyone have the dimensions for a split board for Wolf? Thanks.

Wolf Forming Board - Western Grey Wolf
2” Tip, 3”@2 ½” Length, 5”@5”, 9”@17”, 13”@48” and whatever the board base spreads to, 13” minimum.

1X6 boards preferred. To construct anchor the two boards down with the top ends together and the butt width at 48" spread apart to the NAFA 13" width specification. Then add the other pattern measurements and trim the edges accordingly.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Thanks Tomcat! I had the FHA dimensions divided in half already traced and then I traced the dimensions that you posted. The width of the 1” x 6” is only 5.5” so any measurement over 11” can’t be traced. Your measurements at the top are actually narrower than dividing FHA’s in half. I’m going with your measurements because I know that your boards are proven and I think that a little narrower will work better. Cheers!

At one time Jim Gibb posted a board he had made that folded in half and used door hinges routered in. It was when he was travelling in NWT a few years back.
If it is over 110 pounds you may need wider than 13 to take up the girth. Several tapped 1/8" rods also help the board from buckling when drying at about 5 and 14 inches in the split wood forming boards

5 or 6 inches of the nose can have a 1 inch spacer between the spreaders to add width.
