Every third week Suze and I go to visit the grandkids on our days off, Tuesdays & Wednesday's. Get there Tuesday before daylight and leave Wednesday evening. This week my granddaughter was sick, no school Tuesday nor Wednesday (is it a mortal sin cause a grandfather is grateful his granddaughter was sick & he got her for two full days versus an hour before school and 3 hours after school?) , I took her to school this morning and I messed around as long as I could before dropping my 19 month old grandson off at daycare. (We're already a half day late, we need to head for Oregon). We've been warned he'll cry. I get him out of his car seat, he sees where we are and just goes off. Heart wrenching no don't leave me here, they abuse me, this is toddler jail, save me Papaw screams. Screw this Suze, this ain't happening! Honey, let's just go in and see, he'll be alright. I was mumbling in his ear as I carried him in sobbing, 'don't worry buddy, I'll take em all out and we'll escape, Nana's full of scat, this ain't happening '. We went to his room, he started kicking and wanting down, 'hey Papaw, there's all my little toddler buddies!' 'T.J.! T.J.! How bout a kiss? How bout a hug?' 'Bye'(about the only word the brat can say) . As Suze carried me sobbing from the daycare.................

My youngest used to jerk my heart like that when I would take him to day care. I miss it. Now he tugs my heart in other ways.

My youngest is going to be 18 in less than a month and he still tugs my heart. He's looking to go in to the service, and that's going to be hard for me, we work together everyday. Makes a grown man, well you know .....

Some days....some days, They are the Greatest though!

And then....... Tuesdays & Wensdays aren't making it, and hour before school, 40 minute lunch and 3 1/2 hours after kindergarten. No! Just heck No, not enough time with Maggie. Boss man (truly the best boss I've ever had) we need to be home Saturday &Sunday so I can have more time with the grandkids, Maggie is in school now. Boss man- that's important, I'll handle it. Maggie! Great news! I'll be there Saturday and Sunday, we can spend two whole days together! Wha, wha, Maggie is crying, bawling, I can't even understand her she's crying so hard. Daddy, (my daughter) Maggie wants you to come to lunch with her at kindergarten. Maggie, Maggie, I'll handle it. Boss man? I've got a problem.........Ya Richard, I've got kids, I'll handle it. Maggie now knows two irrefutable truths. Maggie, you know Todd? He's the best boss Papaw!. Maggie, do you know why God made kids so cute? So you wouldn't kill them Papaw!

They ARE Great!

Been shooting some with my youngest grandson. 7years old but he is not ready to hunt yet. (we all mature at different rates) Needs to become a better shot. Needs to get a little older. But with pawpaw standing right beside him, he can shoot/handle a single shot 22. He is learning and were having fun. I'm thinking this fall when the leaves drop off he might be ready to sit beside me and shoot some squirrels.

Tomorrow my oldest grandson is coming over to spend the day (they have spring break in 1st grade) so we will hang out in the shop, drink hot chocolate, pull fingers and do whatever we want! It'll be over by 3:30 that's when his mom and grandma will be home from work. He will be 6 in a month and we have a blast!

My oldest granddaughter, some days you want to just duck tape to a chair so much energy and those questions "why papa?". Sharp as a tack tho. Christmas day were done with gifts and dinner at my daughters house and its just about chore time when papa E says to her " Why don't you go do the chores and breed that blue but sow?" She's 6 turns and looks at him and with a straight face asks " Papa E what semen do I use?" She grabs her coat and flip flops ( her preferred choice of barn footwear ) and heads to the door repeating tube 73 tube 73.
Which is the number he told her , they give her about 2 mins head start and head out to help, she had all the stuff just about ready other then the semen out of the tank when they got to the barn. She still repeating tube 73 tube 73. They all do chores and she sits on the old sow and Ai her ( can't find the pic ) and back inside for pie ask her to pick up one of her new toys and get "why papa I don't know where it goes."

This is her farrowing her first litter by herself, mom was pulling some in the creat next to her art the time.

I could never get away with that, all I'd hear from my wife & daughter would be "way didn't you take her Mickey Mouse dress off of her?".

Our only Grandkid (Grandson) Xavier has lived with Grandma and me since he was 2 months old. He is 11 now. Pretty good kid! He knows what buttons to push with Grandpa to get my goat!!!

Yes the 5 minute total emotional change from don't leave me to please go is common for youth. Too bad many adults never out grow that passive aggressive behavior pattern.
