gwc OP trapper Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,782 eastern shore of Maryland	I ended up ordering a pair of Nikon Monarch 5 10x42 today.We spent most of the day at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge here in Md with the kids today.A guy had a pair of the Nikons like I ordered.He let me try them out.I'm sure theyres even better out there,but these were the clearest Iv ever looked thru.Was very impressed with them.Mine should be here on Monday.Thanks for the help.Ross Last edited by gwc; 03/13/19 09:17 PM. JoeGoodman trapper J Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 320 Ohio	If you go with Vortex, buy the next step above the Diamondbacks. I own them and regret it. My Nikon Monarchs are much brighter and clearer. I own 2 pair of Zeiss Conquests, one 8 X 30, one 10 X 30. They are amazing binoculars. I see them on EBay as cheap as $450 for the 8 power. Excellent glass!
